2021 Volkswagen Atlas vs 2020 Volkswagen Atlas

Serving Farmington Hills, MI

Are you debating between buying the 2020 Volkswagen Atlas or the 2021 version? This midsize crossover is both contemporary and athletic. With five trim levels and numerous options and packages, you can easily pick out an Atlas that fits your lifestyle perfectly when you shop at Suburban Volkswagen of Farmington Hills. The 2020 and 2021 Atlas versions are both part of a generation that was released in 2018. However, the 2021 Atlas has benefited from a few updates.

From a performance perspective, the 2020 and 2021 Atlas SUVs are identical across the trims. The entry-level engine for both model years is a 2.0-liter engine connected to a Tiptronic eight-speed auto transmission with a sport driving mode. This engine gives you 235 horsepower, and it is tied to 4MOTION all-wheel drive. An alternative is a 3.6-liter V6 engine that generates 276 horsepower.

The most exciting difference that you will notice between these two model years is the upgraded exterior design for 2021. This includes refreshed elements across the front and rear fascia and modest updates to the lighting and grille. Both model years have a stretched grille with integrated LED headlights, but the unit has a crisper look with two sections in the headlights in the 2021 version. The profile and side contours have not changed.

In select 2021 trim levels, the Atlas has improved materials and a few additional standard features. However, across the trim lines, you will find that both model years are available with standard or included equipment like roof rails, App-Connect, a blind spot monitor, a Fender sound system, smart device integration, an auto climate management system, parking assistance, travel assistance, and other equipment.

When you are available to appreciate the differences between the 2020 and 2021 Atlas trims in greater detail, contact Suburban Volkswagen of Farmington Hills for assistance. We will support your in-person comparison and research with a few test-drive experiences.
