The 2022 Taos is available in your choice of three trim levels, and all trims have the same capabilities. The one engine option available is a turbo 1.5-liter, four-cylinder engine that produces 158 horsepower. It is connected to front-wheel drive with an eight-speed transmission. An alternative that is offered for all trim levels is all-wheel drive with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. In comparison, the larger Tiguan has a turbocharged four-cylinder, 184-horsepower engine connected to an eight-speed auto transmission.
Appearance
As close siblings, the 2022 Taos and the Tiguan have striking similarities, but they are easy to differentiate on the road. The Taos is a smaller vehicle with a gentle grade down, a flat hood, and a slightly rounded roof. The grille has black mesh, and it is accented by a pair of chrome bars that integrate with rectangular LED headlights. The Tiguan, on the other hand, is a larger model with stronger curvature through the profile. Like the Taos, it has a pinstripe accent that runs linearly through the sides. The grille has four horizontal bars that taper into pointed headlights.
Features
These are both well-appointed vehicles that are available with progressively more advanced features across their interiors. These include a dual-zone climate management system, leather material, rear parking sensors, a navigation system, ambient interior lighting, wireless smartphone charging, remote engine start, etc. The Tiguan is a more sophisticated model with a higher price tag so that you will notice a few additional features on it on a trim-by-trim basis.
