2022 Volkswagen Atlas vs 2021 Volkswagen Atlas

Serving Farmington Hills, MI

With its enviable styling and robust selection of features, the Volkswagen Atlas is a three-row, midsize crossover SUV with strong appeal among shoppers. Now that your attention is trained on the Atlas, you may be wondering if you should upgrade to the 2021 or 2022 versions. Both of these options are included in the first generation of the Volkswagen Atlas. However, Volkswagen has made a few thoughtful improvements to the 2022 Atlas. Our Suburban Volkswagen of Farmington Hills reps are standing by to help you explore these differences in detail.

Performance

One of the automaker's most significant changes to the 2022 Atlas is eliminating the base S trim level. Six trim levels remain and are offered with the same two powertrains that you will find in the 2021 Atlas. The first few Atlas trim levels receive 235 horsepower from a four-cylinder, turbo 2.0-liter engine. The top trims for 2021 and 2022 have a 276-horsepower, 3.6-liter V6 engine.

Appearance

Exterior styling is unchanged between the 2021 Volkswagen Atlas and the 2022 version. This crossover has classic, confident looks with long, linear elements from front to rear. This begins on the rounded nose with a wide grille with horizontal bars. The front bumper also has a long element that turns down at the sides for a touch of distinction. On the sides, you will find lower-body molding with a pinstripe accent that crosses the upper door panels. Exterior features include up to 21-inch wheels, power-folding and heated side mirrors, a panoramic sunroof, and a hands-free liftgate in select or all Atlas trims for both model years.

Features

Volkswagen has made minor adjustments to the available features across the trim levels. However, regardless of the trim level and model year, you select, your Atlas will be well-equipped with exceptional technologies and safety features. Some or all trims for both model years come with a 360-degree camera, an auto parking system, a premium sound system, heated seats in the first and second rows, leather upholstery, smart device app integration, a navigation system, lane-keeping, a wireless charging pad, voice controls, front and rear parking sensors, and other exciting features.

At Suburban Volkswagen of Farmington Hills, we always focus on customer satisfaction. Our sales associates want you to feel confident about the model year and trim you select, and we are happy to assist with your model research.
