2022 Volkswagen Tiguan vs 2021 Volkswagen Tiguan

Serving Farmington Hills, MI

Does the Volkswagen Tiguan have what it takes to impress you with an all-around great performance? This compact crossover SUV’s roots were established in 2007 when the first generation was introduced to our drivers in the Farmington Hills area. Today, the 2022 Tiguan is a mid-generational version that has several updates to boost its appeal. Are you curious about the differences between the 2021 and 2022 Tiguan versions?

While the 2022 Tiguan powertrain retains the same output, it has been mildly tweaked. You can conveniently compare the capabilities in person when you test drive the 2021 and 2022 versions of this crossover SUV. All trim levels come with a 2.0-liter turbo, four-cylinder engine. This engine produces 184 horsepower, and it features an eight-speed auto transmission. If you choose a Tiguan with front-wheel drive, your crossover will have a third row of seats in the cabin. The third row is optional if you choose a Tiguan with all-wheel drive.

The entire exterior of the 2022 Tiguan has been revamped, and the new look is decidedly modern and appealing. The exterior style is confident with linear personality lines that run horizontally across the sides and down the hood. Both the roof and the hood have a relatively flat slope, and a base of black molding supports the entire vehicle. The signature Volkswagen grille has chrome bars running horizontally between the LED headlights. Exterior features include a sunroof, 17-inch wheels or larger, a trailer hitch, and more.

There are also some updates to the interior of the 2022 Tiguan. Specifically, the driver’s touch-controlled steering wheel and the optional digital display cluster in select 2021 trim levels are standard features across the 2022 trim levels. In addition, wireless connectivity is now available for the Android Auto and Apple CarPlay tech. The unchanged equipment between 2021 and 2022 includes cruise control, USB ports, the Car-Net app, forward-collision mitigation, a push-button ignition, heated front seats, adaptive cruise control, and more.
