2020 Volkswagen Atlas vs 2019 Volkswagen Atlas

Serving Farmington Hills, MI

When Volkswagen released its Atlas to customers in Farmington Hills and beyond in 2018, it immediately gained attention. This midsize crossover SUV has an expressive personality and thoughtful features across its trim line. Both the 2019 and 2020 Atlas versions are part of the model's first generation, so they are identical in many ways. However, Volkswagen has made a few modest updates for the 2020 model year that should be considered before you finalize your SUV selection.

The capabilities of the Atlas are unchanged between the 2019 and 2020 models. Up 276 horsepower continues to be pulled from a 3.6-liter, V6 engine, or you can enjoy 235 horsepower from a 2.0-liter engine. Both powertrains are linked to an eight-speed auto transmission with multiple driving modes and Tiptronic tech. These features improve efficiency, performance, and overall handling. Both model years are equipped with 4MOTION all-wheel drive, Active Control, power steering, anti-locking brakes, and other equipment that empowers you to command the road.

Likewise, there are no significant improvements to the crossover's exterior design between these two model years. Visually, the Atlas exudes confidence through its linear design elements that span across the front, sides, and rear. At the front, the rectangular grille extends directly into the elongated LED headlights. The sides show off horizontal definition lines that draw attention to the SUV's substantial ground clearance. The top personality line edges over the wheel fenders for a personal touch. The Atlas for 2019 and 2020 may come with a power liftgate, cornering headlights, LED foglamps, up to 20-inch wheels, black lower-body cladding, raised roof rails, and other gear.

The primary differences between the 2019 Atlas and the 2020 model are found in their standard features. Notably, the wireless hotspot and the Car-Net communications features that were optional in select trims for 2019 are now standard features in the 2020 Atlas. A few other minor adjustments have been made to the standard equipment of the 2020 Atlas. Some or all trims for both model years include remote engine start, a panoramic sunroof, a power liftgate, a digital instrumentation gauge with navigation system mapping, a wireless charging pad, USB ports, a touch display screen, a Fender premium audio system, a dynamic road sign display, an overhead-view camera, easy access to the third row of seats and numerous additional features.
